During the plenary, a curious person quickly caught the attention of the people who were following the comptroller’s election live. In the middle of a brief recess that was given to receive the present that a senator of the Historical Pact had brought, a microphone, of the hundreds that the venue has, was left on and captured the words of a congressman who exclaimed:

“Are you buying votes? Yes? How many wafers for one vote? was heard by one of the attending congressmen.

The voice of the person who said this phrase has not yet been identified or referred to someone specifically, since it is valid to specify that, since the full congress had been convened, there were 296 congressmen inside the Elliptical Hall of the Capitol when these words were heard.

The snack was taken by Senator Sandra Jaimes, from the Historical Pact bench, the act was done, not only to have a detail with her colleagues, but to promote the work of micro-entrepreneurs from Santander.

“Today here in the congress we have delivered wafers from Floridablanca (Santander), defending all artisanal wafer producers today. Zero tax for wafers”, expressed the Senator of the Historical Pact.

The plenary was being broadcast live, which is why the fact was replicated with some kind of criticism from several people who were watching the broadcast. Another person who manifested himself on social networks after what happened was the artist Margaret Rose of Franciswho claimed that it was a “most absurd thing” the manner in which the election of the comptroller was made. In addition, in the same trill he suggested that the way in which the person in charge of supervising the public treasury of Colombians be chosen.

Despite her surprise at this appointment, Margarita said that if this appointment was made with the push of President Gustavo Petro, this is something that “relieves” her. She thus declared it in the following tweet:

“I hope they change the way to elect the Comptroller. What an absurd thing. That is what is really corrupt, because each bench votes for the one they prefer. If it is true that the president pushed for the one who remained, far from worrying me, it relieves me. Sorry.”said the Colombian actress through her Twitter account.

The truth is that at the end of the day, Carlos Hernán Rodríguez, who initially had the backing of the governing parties, received the absolute support of the congressmen, as he was elected with a total of 260 votes out of a possible 296 in Congress. The support for the now comptroller was such that he even had the approval of the opposition Democratic Center party.
