Netflix releases trailer for Tim Burton’s version of ‘The Addams Family’

Los Angeles (USA), 17 Aug. Netflix premiered this Wednesday the trailer for one of its new bets for this fall: “Wednesday”, a series inspired by the mythical “The Addams Family” and which has been devised by filmmaker Tim Burton.

Inspired by the original production of “The Addams Family” (1964), “Wednesday” will be released in the fall of this year, although the exact date has not yet been specified.

This new series has a bloody and macabre tone, and follows the adventures of Wednesday, the daughter of the sinister marriage between Gomez and Morticia Addams who now plays Jenna Ortega (“You”).

Under a renewed aesthetic, in the two-minute duration of the official trailer published by Netflix, Wednesday can already be seen hatching evil plans in the Addams mansion or punishing his Nevermore Academy classmates with perverse occurrences.

An institution to which he will go to try to master his supernatural abilities and solve a murder that will shake the foundations of his family.

“I did not know that I would enter a nightmare. (…) Full of mystery, chaos and murders, I am going to love this,” says the protagonist in this preview of the series.

Along with Ortega, the rest of the cast is made up of actors such as Catherine Zeta-Jones (as Morticia), Luis Guzmán (Gomez), Isaac Ordóñez (Pugsley), Victor Dorobantu (Thing), George Burcea (Lurch) or Christina Ricci (special appearance as Marilyn Thornhill)

It is a series created by MGM Television for Netflix and whose first four chapters, out of a total of eight, are produced and directed by Tim Burton together with Gandja Monteiro and James Marshall.

Algred Gough (“Aquaman”) and Miles Millar (“Spider-Man 2”) serve as co-directors, writers and executive producers.

It is not the first time that a production derived from “The Addams Family” has been made, which has even included a comedy, a musical nominated for the Tony Awards and an animated adaptation that was dubbed by several well-known personalities in Hollywood, such as Oscar Isaac. or Charlize Theron, among others.
