SEOUL, Aug 17 (Reuters) – North Korea fired two cruise missiles early on Wednesday from the city of Onchon on its west coast, according to a South Korean military source, without giving details on the range or altitude of the missiles. .

The launches come as South Korea and the United States kicked off their four-day joint preliminary drill on Tuesday to prepare for the long-suspended Ulchi Freedom Shield real-field training from Aug. 22 to Sept. 1. .

Meanwhile, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol said Wednesday that he is willing to provide phased economic aid to North Korea if it ends nuclear weapons development and begins denuclearization, while answering questions during a conference. release to commemorate his first 100 days in office.
