Since last August 7, when the new president of the Colombians took office, Gustavo Petro, the link to consult the official website of the Presidency of the Republic includes his first surname: Petro. Although it is his personal touch to differentiate his website from that of previous presidents, it is not the first time that a URL dedicated to a specific president has been made.

In fact, the website of the Presidency has the historical archive of the websites of the different presidents from 2002 to 2022. All of them can be accessed, although the obsolete technology with which some of them were designed does not allow interaction with them as their developers thought of them.

In total there are six saved historical websites: that of Álvaro Uribe Vélez (, three of Juan Manuel Santos ( for the period 2010-2014, co for the 2014-2015 period and for the 2015-2018 period), and two from Iván Duque Márquez ( for the 2018-2020 period and .co for 2020-2022).

In addition, the official site of the vice president, Francia Márquez Mina, is also personalized with the initials of her name:, in the same way as that of the former vice president, Marta Lucía Ramírez: ml.vicepresidencia

In each of the websites you can see the design based on institutional images and web design trends of its time. For example, Uribe’s site was designed with elements of Adobe Flash Player and these are no longer visible to users, since this interactive programming language was discontinued in 2019.

All in all, it is striking that the website with the Petro URL takes longer to load than any of the historical files, which would be a sign that they hired a hosting that is too far from Colombia or their page is very heavy.

For Tuesday, August 16, President Gustavo Petro’s agenda was marked by two important events: the first had to do with the inaugurations of the Ministers of Justice, Néstor Osuna; and of Science, Technology and Innovation, Arturo Luis Luna. Said act was going to take place, in the first instance, at 8:30 in the morning; however, it was moved to 3 in the afternoon and around 2, its postponement was announced.

The second was the presentation and recognition of the troops of the Armed Forces: the act that was going to take place at the José María Córdova school was cancelled. It is the first time that a president postpones an act of this type, and in the case of the one that was going to take place around 5 in the afternoon, it had the presence of more than 1,000 soldiers and about 40 journalists.

According to President Petro’s press team, the president has been fulfilling a tight private agenda made up of urgent meetings.

It is worth mentioning that the president not only needs to take possession of these officials; He also has yet to appoint a new ICT minister, since Mery Gutiérrez, who had already been delegated by Petro for this portfolio, could not be sworn in due to a lawsuit she has against the State. In fact, when the first council of ministers was held on August 8, she was not mentioned
