President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador reiterated its support and reaffirmed its confidence in the new head of the Ministry of Public Education (SEP), Leticia Ramirez Amaya.
This in the face of harsh criticism against the new official selected after the departure of delphine gomez. For the president, the comments, for the most part, show that the opposition is “very classist and racist”.
“I am proud of Lety, she is an exceptional woman, a school teacher, a classroom teacher. She worked for 12 years, she was trained in one of the best schools in Mexico, the National Teachers School”, she stated.
The president also reiterated that he was also at the Manuel Bartolomé Cossío elementary school and had as a teacher Jose de Tapia, also know as Pepeprofessor of Spanish origin and founder of the institute in which the current Secretary of Education studied.
Within what the president commented, he added that Leticia Ramírez was the leader of a section of the National Union of Education Workers (SNTE) and the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE).
López Obrador also recalled the political trajectory shared with the professor, whom he met in 1994 and with whom he began to collaborate from 2000 to 2005. Lety Ramirez, as the president tells him, was in charge of Citizen Attention, that is, she He was the one who dedicated himself to meeting the demands of the population.
“It’s not just anything, it’s listening to the people, to those who bring their demands, to those who need advice, not everyone has the patience to know how to listen to the people,” he interrupted.
