Wall Street opens lower

NEW YORK (AP) — Stock prices fell Monday morning at the start of trading on the New York Stock Exchange, interrupting a string of rising days.

The S&P index; 500 was down 0.4%.

Oil prices fell sharply on concerns about the global economy.

China’s central bank cut a key interest rate to prop up the economy, the world’s second largest.

Bond yields also fell after a measure of manufacturing in New York state shrank to an unexpected level.

The New York stock market had been rising for four weeks on speculation that inflation had already reached its highest point.
