Saprissa takes a breath and Alajuelense prolongs its irregularity in the Opening of Costa Rica

Saprissa easily beat San Carlos 3-0 for their first home win and snapped a three-match winless streak.

However, the victory, with goals from Kendall Waston (36), Jamaican Javon East (60) and David Guzmán (65), left the S still out of the qualifying zone, although it cut the distance with the sancarleños, second in group B, led by the youngest, Puntarenas.

In this same group, the Carthaginian champion -with the loss of six players punished for expulsions in past clashes- won its first game of the tournament by beating Greece 5-3, although it remains in last place in the area.

On the other hand, Alajuelense fell 2-1 on their visit to Santos, a defeat that was influenced by an error by goalkeeper Leonel Moreira in the second goal from Santos.

With their second loss in their last three games, the Alajuelenses thus lost the opportunity to close the gap with Herediano, leader of block B and the only undefeated player in the competition, who punished Sporting 4-2.
