Puerto Rican Emmanuel Rivera leads Latino attack in the Major Leagues



Sports Desk, Aug 12. Puerto Rican Emmanuel Rivera hit two home runs to lead the powerful attack deployed by Latin bats in the Major Leagues.

ROCKIES 0-6 DIAMONDBACKS

Puerto Rican Emmanuel Rivera hit two solo home runs and Josh Rojas hit a four-base hit and drove in three runs as the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Colorado Rockies.

Zac Gallen (8-2) pitched seven scoreless innings and struck out six batters in the victory for the Diamondbacks.

José Ureña (1-4) pitched six innings of four runs and five strikeouts to be defeated by the Rockies.

BLUE JACKS 2-1 GUARDIANS

Outfielder Teoscar Hernandez and American third baseman Matt Chapman each homered in the Toronto Blue Jays’ 2-1 victory over the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday.

Thanks to Hernández and Chapman, the Toronto team cut a streak that cost three consecutive losses and another that in nine games has barely achieved three wins.

Andrés Giménez produced the only run for the Guardians.

MARLINS 2-6 BRAVES

The Venezuelan Jesús Aguilar deposited the ball in the stands of center field for the Marlins.

RAYS 8-2 ORIOLES

Taylor Walls hit a two-run homer and Isaac Paredes had two RBIs as the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Baltimore Orioles.

The victory allows the Rays to recover the third wild card qualifying for the postseason by the American League.

The Dominicans José Siri, three runs scored, Francisco Mejía, one RBI; and the Cuban Randy Arozarena, with runs scored and RBI, and Yandy Díaz, with a run, contributed to the victory of the Rays.

Robinson Chirinos and Rougned Odor of Venezuela each drove in one run; while the Mexican Ramón Urías and the Dominican Jorge Mateo had one scored by the Orioles.

PUPPIES 7-2 RED

Ian Happ, with a home run and four RBIs, led the attack of the Chicago Cubs, who defeated the Cincinnati Reds this Saturday.

Franmil Reyes hit a two-run homer and Willson Contreras homered and scored twice for the Cubs.

For the Reds, Kyle Farmer drove in two runs, both scored by Jake Fraley.

METERS 1-0 PHILIES

Right-hander Jacob deGrom (2-0) pitched six scoreless innings and struck out 10 batters to win a pitching duel with fellow right-hander Aaron Nola (8-9) in the New York Mets’ shutout victory. on the Philadelphia Phillies.

Pete Alonso drove in Starling Marte for the only run of the game, with a single in the first inning.

For the Phillies, Nola (8-9) covered eight innings in one career, in which he struck out eight opponents, but lost the game.

NATIONALS 4-3 PSDRES

The offensive combination of Cuban Yadiel Hernández, Mexican Joey Meneses and Dominican Víctor Robles was vital for the Washington Nationals to beat the San Diego Padres.

Hernandez and Meneses hit back-to-back homers in the sixth inning to tie the score and Robles hit the go-ahead hit in the seventh.

Dominican Manny Machado and Trent Grisham went over the fence; and Juan Soto drove in a run for the Padres.

RED SOCKS 2-3 YANKEES

Isiah Kiner-Falefa homered and drove in the three runs that gave the New York Yankees victory in their duel with the Boston Red Sox.

Frankie Montas started the game for the Yankees, going out without a decision after allowing two runs in five innings, in which he prescribed four strikeouts.

Cuban left-hander Aroldis Chapman (1-3) earned the win by pitching 1.1 two-strikeout innings.

ANGELS 5-3 TWINS

Taylor Ward hit a two-run homer in the eleventh inning as the Los Angeles Angels defeated the Minnesota Twins in extra innings.

Japan’s Shohei Ohtani homered for the Angels, who also had a two-run triple from Magneuris Sierra.

For the Twins, Puerto Rican Carlos Correa sent the ball beyond the limits of the playing field and drove in two runs; Colombian Gio Urshela drove in a run and Dominican Jorge Polanco scored a lap.
