Covid-19 in Peru: confirmed cases amount to 4,022,016 since the start of the pandemic

In the fourth wave of Covid-19 in Peru, the Ministry of Health updated the data of positive cases, deaths and negative cases of the new coronavirus disease. In this sense, the state entity announced the processing of samples (molecular, antigenic and serological or rapid) for coronavirus until August 12.

In this sense, from the beginning of the pandemic until 10:00 p.m. last Friday, samples for this virus have been processed for 33,679,041 people, obtaining, 4,022,016 confirmed cases, 29,657,025 negatives and the death of 214,934.

Also, only on August 12, the results of 54,615 people sampled were recorded, of which 3,353 were confirmed symptomatic cases.

In addition, the results of 8,185 confirmed cases by Covid-19 of the previous seven days.

In relation to the number of patients hospitalized for this disease, the Minsa announced that there are 1,259 of which 261 are in ICU with mechanical ventilation.

Of the total number of confirmed cases, to date, 3,904,827 people have completed their period of home isolation or have been discharged from a health facility.

It should be remembered that the executive director of Public Health surveillance of the National Center for Epidemiology, Prevention and Disease Control (CDC) of the Ministry of Health (minsa), César Munayco, revealed that there is a higher number of infections of the disease in the population between 25 and 40 years of age.

For the doctor, one of the causes of this increase in infections in this adult population responds to the fact that this age group is the one that carries out more activities such as going to work, studying, attending parties or social gatherings, so they are more exposed to virus.

“According to recent studies, those who get sick and spread the most (by Covid-19) are young people and adults between 25 and 40 years old because they have greater exposure when they go out to work, study or attend meetings or parties carrying the virus. home,” said the expert.
