The Chinese regime summoned the US ambassador to Beijing on Tuesday to protest the arrival of Nancy Pelosi in Taiwan. The head of the US House of Representatives arrived on the Asian island on Tuesday, the highest ranking visit of a US official since 1997.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Xie Feng announced that he will urgently summon US Ambassador Nicholas Burns. The Chinese deputy minister accused Pelosi of “provoking and playing with fire.” In addition to his visit to Taipei, he “seriously” violated the one-China principle.

Beijing says Pelosi’s visit sends a serious and wrong signal to separatist “Taiwan independence” forces. “The consequences are extremely serious. China will never sit idly by.”Xie Feng pointed out.

China’s vice foreign minister said the US must pay for its mistakes. “China will resolutely take the necessary measures. Anyone who tries to manipulate the Taiwan issue to gain political capital will pay the price.”

The Democratic leader, 82 years old and third in line for the US Presidency, arrived in Taipei after 10:30 p.m. (local time, 2:30 p.m. GMT) aboard a US Air Force plane as the third stopover for his tour of Asia, after visiting Singapore and Malaysia. She was received at Songshan Airport by Taiwanese Foreign Minister Joseph Wu.

“The Chinese People’s Liberation Army will hold major military exercises and training activities, including live-fire drills.”said the official agency Xinhua, along with a map and the coordinates of the maritime and air areas of the north, southwest and southeast of Taiwan interested in the exercises.

The drills will start at 12:00 (Beijing time) on August 4 until 12:00 on August 7, 2022the agency added, effectively blockading the island for three days.

Earlier, the Chinese Ministry of Defense had advanced a series of “military maneuvers directed to “respond” to the visit of Nancy Pelosi.

The Defense portfolio explained on Tuesday that these operations are aimed at resolutely defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity” from China.
