Storm Frank weakens in the Pacific off Mexico

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Tropical Storm Frank continued to weaken off the Pacific coast of Mexico on Monday after reaching hurricane strength over the weekend.

The US National Hurricane Center reported that Frank’s maximum sustained winds had decreased to 50 mph (85 kph) by mid-afternoon and it was moving northwest at 12 mph (19 kph). It was located 1,380 kilometers (860 miles) west of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula and did not pose a threat to the mainland.

The meteor is expected to continue to weaken in the coming days.
