Torrential Rains Disrupt Flight Operations At Karachi Airport


KARACHI: At least 10 flights have been cancelled and eight needed to be delayed on the Jinnah International Airport, Karachi as a consequence of dangerous climate amid heavy downpours within the port metropolis that have been continued since Sunday morning, ARY News reported.

According to a CAA spokesperson, 5 PIA flights that have been scheduled to depart from the town,  PK-306, PK-370, PK-341 and PK-349, have been delayed.

Several different international-bound flights have been additionally delayed or cancelled from Karachi airport as a consequence of tough climate.

Moreover, all nationwide and worldwide flights that have been scheduled from Karachi have been cancelled, the CAA spox mentioned.

Public Holiday

The Sindh authorities has introduced a public vacation in Karachi and Hyderabad on Monday (tomorrow) for the private and non-private sectors as a consequence of heavy rainfall.

Sindh Minister Sharjeel Memon mentioned that the choice of the general public vacation was taken because of the heavy downpours throughout the province. Karachi and Hyderabad have been constantly receiving rains since Sunday early morning at 5:00 pm.

He requested the personal sector to shut their places of work and factories tomorrow.

Statistics of Karachi rainfall

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Sunday launched statistics of rainfall in several components of Karachi which recorded the heaviest rainfall measuring 86.5mm in Quaidabad.

According to the climate division, Saddar and Gulshan-e-Hadeed areas of the port metropolis recorded 62mm of rain, respectively.

Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Base Masroor and Keamari recorded 54mm of rainfall, whereas Orangi Town recorded 49.5mm. Defence Housing Authority (DHA) recorded 44.3mm, North Karachi 39mm, Korangi 36.4mm, Nazimabad 36mm, PAF Faisal Base 35.5mm, and Saadi Town 33.7mm of rain.

Gadap recorded 29.2mm, Gulshan Mimar 28.4mm, Old Airport 27mm, and Jinnah Terminal 26.4mm of rain.
